Gunpowder was burned onto a steel plate and the plate was left for two weeks, until the residue had set hard and rough to the touch, like sandpaper. GNP Defend Bore Cleaning Foam was then applied to one spot and GNP Defend Gun Cleaner to a second spot on the same plate. Both products reacted on contact and lifted the carbon, and a single wipe with a cloth showed bare metal under each spot. Both are water-based, ammonia-free cleaners, and both remove carbon, copper, and lead from steel. The test was filmed by GNP Defend on its own plate with its own products; the video runs 34 seconds and shows the fouled plate, the two applications, and the wipe.
