Two Hundred Fifty Years of Freedom: A Fourth of July Celebration
Celebrating 250 Years of American Freedom
This Fourth of July isn't just another Independence Day — it's America's 250th. A quarter of a millennium since a handful of farmers, printers, and tradesmen signed their names to a dangerous idea and built a nation out of it. At GNP Defend, we're proud to stand with a community that still honors that spirit of independence. So hang the bunting, fire up the grill, and stake out your spot for the fireworks. Here's a poem to raise a glass to — happy 250th, America.
Two Hundred Fifty Years of Freedom
A Fourth of July Celebration
Ring out, you bells, from every steeple —
this is the day that made a people!
Two hundred fifty years ago
a spark was struck, and watch it glow.
In summer heat, in candled rooms,
while empire rattled distant dooms,
they signed their names and staked their lives
on one bright dream: that freedom thrives.
No crown would rule this stubborn shore,
no king would tax them anymore —
just farmers, printers, smiths who swore
that liberty was worth the war.
And oh, what grew from that first seed:
a nation built on word and deed,
where any child, from any door,
can dream of something worth much more.
So set the table, light the grill,
hang bunting from the window sill,
let neighbors crowd the summer lawn
from noon until the day is gone.
The parade comes loud with drum and horn,
old glory waves, brand new and worn,
and veterans stand along the way —
the living roots of this proud day.
Then dusk arrives, the crowd goes still,
a hush rolls down from every hill,
until the first bright rocket flies
and blooms across the velvet skies.
Two hundred fifty years of light,
exploding gold against the night,
each burst a year, each year a claim:
that freedom's more than just a name.
So lift your glass and lift it high
to those who dared, to those who try,
to all who keep the promise true —
happy birthday, red, white, and blue!
